The sixth edition of Romanian Creative Week (RCW), the largest event dedicated to the creative industries in the European Union, which will take place from 13 to 24 May, will be held under the High Patronage of the Presidential Administration.
According to the RCW organisers, this distinction not only marks the maturity of the cultural project born in Iasi, but also recognises the value of a creative community that has formed and grown around this festival of creativity, which attracts thousands of artists, both emerging and established.
'Creativity is not only an artistic expression; I believe it is also the way in which a society imagines its future. The fact that this year's event is held under the High Patronage of the Presidential Administration is an honour, an encouragement for the entire Romanian Creative Week community, but also a great responsibility for us. We thank President Nicusor Dan for this recognition and for supporting a generation of artists and creators who demonstrate through their work that Romania can be a place where ideas grow, inspire, and transcend the country's borders,' said Irina Schrotter, President of the Federation of Employers in the Creative Industries (FEPIC), organiser of Romanian Creative Week, quoted in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Friday.
RCW currently brings together 13 creative industries - Film, Performing Arts, Arts, Crafts, Design, Music, Literature, Architecture, Advertising, Fashion, New Media, Gaming, Education, and Sustainability & Creative Communities. The scale of this ecosystem has been recognised at European level: in 2023, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) named RCW the event bringing together the largest number of creative industries in the EU. In 2025, the Ministry of Culture included Romanian Creative Week in the category of Romania's strategic cultural events, alongside six other major projects, including the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, the Transilvania International Film Festival, and Art Safari.
'This year's edition promises a new surge of creative energy: over a thousand Romanian and international artists, hundreds of events, and a variety of formats - from exhibitions, urban installations, and theatre and dance performances, to concerts, conferences with exceptional guests from Romania's intellectual scene, and interdisciplinary projects that will transform Ia?i into a hub of ideas and artistic experimentation,' the press release states.
The RCW organisers announced that in the coming period they will reveal some of the premieres and special guests of the 2026 edition, along with international projects and collaborations that will complete the programme of the 12 days during which Ia?i becomes the capital of Romanian creativity.
Romanian Creative Week is organised by the Federation of Employers in the Creative Industries, the only nationally representative employers' federation operating in the creative industries sector. It was established in Ia?i in August 2011 and has organised, directly or through its member organisations, more than 100 national and international promotion initiatives for the creative industries.
