President Nicusor Dan said on Thursday that he and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had signed a Strategic Partnership declaration between Romania and Ukraine, calling it a moment when the two countries commit to what they can achieve together.
"Mr President, dear Volodymyr, thank you for your visit and, above all, we thank you and the Ukrainian people for the fight you are waging, which is a fight for the whole of Europe and therefore for Romania as well. Today we signed a Strategic Partnership declaration and this is an important moment in our bilateral relations. We should not shy away from saying that historically there has been mistrust between our countries, but I believe that mistrust evaporated when the war began in 2022," Nicusor Dan said at a joint press conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyy following their meeting.
The two heads of state also discussed the joint production of drones in Romania.
"That is why the document we signed is very important. In the document and in our discussions we talked about the war in Ukraine and about the continuation of the support Romania provides. We discussed our military cooperation and one of the documents signed refers to the joint production of drones in Romania," President Nicusor Dan added.
