President Klaus Iohannis told the students from northeastern Iasi that Romania cannot evolve "for the better and better" but through the involvement of everybody in the country and mentioned he is convinced the students will succeed in making the difference regarding the way tomorrow's Romania will look like if they put into practice the skills acquired during the faculty.
"You are an elite higher education institution and you mould students to whom I wish successful careers in the country, especially that presently there is great temptation to go abroad after graduation. However, dear students, Romania cannot evolve for the good or the better but through our involvement, of all of us, here, in the country. I am convinced that if you put into practice the skills acquired here you will succeed in making a difference with regard to how tomorrow's Romania will look like," President Iohannis said at the event dedicated to the Greater Union Centennial and the 205th anniversary since the establishment of the first engineering class in Romanian that took place in the "Carmen Sylva" Aula Magna of the "Gheorghe Asachi" Technical University in Iasi.
President Iohannis added that greater involvement of the local authorities is needed nationwide so as to increase the correlation provided by the specialities offers in technical higher education and the labour market.
"There is an increased demand for graduates of technical universities in almost all branches of the economy. I hope the graduates of your institutions will have the opportunity to participate in the development of the road infrastructure, railway, energy and agricultural that the country's North-East regions so badly need, in order to swiftly reduce the gaps accumulated, unfortunately, especially in the last decades," Iohannis further said.
