Prime Minister Viorica Dancila sent on Tuesday to President Klaus Iohannis a letter welcoming the fact that he responded to her call for political cooperation and announced that she would fast address him the invitation to attend the meeting of the Government, if she considers his participation necessary.
"I have taken note with satisfaction of your recent statements that you finally admit that we need to cooperate for Romania. I also welcome the fact that you have responded to my call for political cooperation to ensure that Romania has a good EU Council Presidency. With regard to your request invoking the prerogatives conferred by Article 87 of the Constitution of Romania on the reception of the working agenda of each Government sitting, I inform you that the Government of Romania transmits on its own website, each time, the agenda of the Government's sittings together with the drafts of public policy documents, the draft normative acts or other documents, as well as the accompanying documents, documents that can be consulted by any person In case the agenda of the Government meeting includes drafts of normative acts on issues of national interest in the field of foreign policy, defense of the country, ensuring public order, in line with the constitutional text invoked, we will signal this and assure you of our openness in the situation in which you decide to participate in the Government sitting", the prime minister's letter shows.
The prime minister has announced that she will fast address the President the invitation to attend the Government sitting if she considers his participation necessary.
"In conclusion, I assure you, Mr President, that the Government of Romania is aware of the obligation of constitutional loyalty requiring the Government and the President of Romania, as well as any public authority, to observe constitutional competencies, without assuming prerogatives that go beyond the constitutional and legal framework," the head of the Executive said.
President Klaus Iohannis said on Tuesday he would go to the Government sttings after he found "a desire for collaboration" on the part of Prime Minister Viorica Dancila.
"I asked for the agenda [of the Government sitting, ed.n]. I think we have to look at things a little in perspective. We are preparing for the presidency [of EU Council], and even if we are ready, things will not be simple at all. On the other hand, I have noticed from the prime minister a willingness to cooperate, so to speak, she has repeatedly invited me to collaborate. Here I am, ready to collaborate. I'm going to attend the Government sittings," Klaus Iohannis said in Vienna, where he is attending the High-Level Forum Africa-Europe.
