Prime Minister Viorica Dancila announced on Thursday that farmers will receive this year their subsidies for agriculture in advance.
"I am glad that I can announce you that, this year, the farmers will receive their subsidies for agriculture in advance. It is worth mentioning that last year they have been payed on time, unlike in 2016. On 3 February, over 400 million euro have entered Romania's accounts, an amount representing the reimbursement of the payments from the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund and corresponding to December 2017. This amount adds up to the one received on 5 January, worth over 600 million euro. There are already over one billion euro for the Romanian farmers, which represents 60 percent of the approved cap amount of 1.8 billion euro," Dancila stated at the beginning of the Government meeting.
According to the Executive head, so far 1.3 billion euro, namely 70 percent of the cap amount have reached the farmers.
"We're talking about 723,000 farmers who received subsidies, out of the 885,000 who filed applications," Dancila added.
