Premier Viorica Dancila replied point by point on Wednesday, in the Parliament's plenum, to a number of criticisms brought by the opposition's representatives during the no-confidence motion debate, addressing Dan Barna (Save Romania Union - USR leader, ed.n.), Traian Basescu (People Movement's party - PMP leader, ed.n.) and Raluca Turcan (Liberal deputies' leader, ed.n.).
"Mr. Barna, USR, you have mentioned European values. I remind you that when we presented the first programme for the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, a programme followed by all member states, you were making a circus on the Parliament's hallways. All people of good will understood how much attention you give to the EU. What is your Romania, Mr. Barna? The one in which you hit an elderly person, the one in which you push a deputy, the one in which you urge to violence and hatred? You should know Romanians do not love hatemongers, Romanians love those who add more value and consensus," Dancila said.
She drew the attention of former president Traian Basescu that Romania will not hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the trio in which Austria is part of, asking him to do some research. "Mr. Basescu, we are not in the trio with Austria, but in the trio with Finland and Croatia, so please do your research. Moreover, Romania's President is the one representing us at the European Council. I should take it that you do not trust Mr. Iohannis?," Dancila asked.
As for National Liberal Party deputy Raluca Turcan, Viorica Dancila stated that the latter's studies do not recommend her as an expert in the economy of the European Union.
"Ms. Turcan, I do not mean to offend you, nor do I want to judge, because I have never offended a woman and I will not do it now, but I give you credibility. Your studies in Moscow do not recommend you as an expert in the economy of the European Union," Dancila maintained.
"Romania cannot be governed with little jokes but with concrete and firm actions, and I am certain we are changing Romania for the better, every day," the premier concluded her intervention.
Before premier Dancila took the floor, the Opposition booed and shouted "Resignation!" while the parliamentary majority was applauding.
"I thought you had learned that to get to governing you need Romanians' votes, not shouting and contests of who shouts louder," the Prime Minister said.
