Investments in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) will continue in a "planned" manner so that the projects to be completed by the end of August 2026 shall receive funding, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated on Monday.
The Prime Minister had a new working meeting on Monday, at the Victoria Palace, with representatives of the Association of Municipalities in Romania (AMR) in the context of consultations regarding the local public administration reform and prioritization of investment projects from public funds.
According to a Government release, within the discussions, the proposals of municipal mayors were analyzed and a series of aspects related to administrative reform measures were clarified, as well as the draft emergency ordinance regarding the management of investments funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
"Investments in the PNRR will continue in a planned manner so that the projects to be completed by the end of August 2026 shall receive funding, just as Romania has committed to in its dialogue with representatives of the European Commission. Following the emergency ordinance that we will approve in the Government meeting, the ministries coordinating the implementation of the PNRR will present, after consulting with the beneficiaries, the list of mature projects for which work has already begun and which will continue to be financed," PM Ilie Bolojan mentioned.
The Prime Minister added that the other projects, for which funding will not be provided through the PNRR and which cannot be completed by August 31, 2026, will be taken over and supported by other financial programmes, either European or national.
Another important topic of discussion was the reform of local public administration, part of the second package of government measures, the Executive indicated.
"Government representatives and municipal mayors analyzed aspects related to decision-making decentralization, including gambling authorizations and human resources decentralization. Property tax reform, the transfer of personal assistants for people with disabilities to decentralized structures of the Ministry of Labour, the reduction of public administration personnel were also among the topics discussed at today's working meeting," the release showed.
The consultations held at the Victoria Palace were also attended by Vice Prime Ministers Tanczos Barna and Marian Neacsu, Minister of Investments and European Projects Dragos Pislaru, Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare and Secretary of State with the Development, Public Works and Administration Ministry Marin Tole.
Moreover, Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) Chairman Kelemen Hunor also participated in the meeting with representatives of the Association of Municipalities in Romania.
