Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan met, on Monday, at the Victoria Palace, with a delegation from OMV, led by CEO Alfred Stern, in which he pointed out Petrom's role as an anchor on the Romanian fuel market.

According to a Government's release, the discussions focused on OMV Petrom's development strategy for the coming period, with a record investment budget of 9.4 billion lei this year.

The company's representatives mentioned that the most important natural gas exploration and exploitation project in the Black Sea, Neptun Deep, is on schedule, with exploitation set to begin next year, the cited source informs.

"The project aims to exploit gas for both domestic consumption and export, thus contributing to Romania's energy security and reducing its dependence on imports. During the meeting, the importance of the safety and security of the project in the Black Sea was emphasized," the press release reads.

At the same time, the state of implementation of the agreement in principle between the Government and OMV Petrom was analyzed to allow for the continuation of investments in hydrocarbon exploration and production.

Another central topic was the evolution of fuel prices and supply, in the context of the war in the Middle East and the disruptions on the global oil market.

"OMV representatives drew attention to the main challenge: securing the supply chain, given that the turbulence caused by the conflict generates a deficit of approximately 30% of the necessary resources worldwide," according to the release.

In the same context, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that the Government is analyzing all scenarios depending on the evolution of the situation and highlighted Petrom's role as an anchor on the Romanian fuel market.

"It was agreed that there will be close collaboration and cooperation with the Government so that Romania can successfully overcome this difficult situation," the release says.

The meeting, on behalf of the Government, was attended by the Prime Minister, the Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, Mihai Jurca, and the Government's spokesperson, Ioana Dogioiu.

Also participating on behalf of OMV were the CEO and Chair of the OMV Petrom Board of Directors, Christina Verchere, and the Vice President for Regulation and Corporate Public Affairs, Alexandru Maximescu.
