Patriarch Daniel sends message of condolences and solidarity

The Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church (BOR), His Beatitude Daniel, on Wednesday sent a message of condolences and solidarity following the serious road accident which occurred on Tuesday on DN6, near the locality of Lugojel, in which seven Greek citizens, supporters of PAOK Thessaloniki team, lost their lives, according to Agerpres.

"I learned with sorrow about the tragic road accident that occurred near the locality of Lugojel, Timis county, which resulted in the death of seven Greek citizens and the serious injury of three others. In these difficult moments of suffering and grief, we extend our condolences to the families of the deceased and pray for the recovery of those seriously injured in this tragedy. With hope in the help and mercy of God, we pray that our Saviour Jesus Christ may grant rest among the righteous to the souls of the departed, and offer spiritual and physical healing to the injured," Patriarch Daniel said.

Seven Greek citizens, supporters of PAOK Thessaloniki team, lost their lives on Tuesday in a major road accident on DN6 near Lugojel. They were travelling by minibus to Lyon, where their favourite team was playing.

According to the Timis Police, the man driving the minibus from Caransebes towards Lugoj at one point entered the opposite lane and collided head-on with a lorry.
