As of 28 July 2025, the National Bank of Romania (BNR) will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin to mark 130 years since the birth of Alexandru Rosetti.
According to the BNR press release, the coin shows on the obverse the University of Bucharest, where Alexandru Rosetti held the position of rector from 1946 to 1949, the inscription 'ROMANIA' in an arc, the face value '10 LEI', the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue '2025'.
On the reverse, the coin shows the portrait, the name of academician Alexandru Rosetti, as well as his birth and death years '1895-1990'.
The silver coins are housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by booklets featuring a presentation of the numismatic issue and certificates of authenticity in Romanian, English and French. The certificates of authenticity bear the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The maximum mintage is 5,000 silver coins.
The selling price for the silver coin, including the booklet and the certificate of authenticity, is lei 620.00, VAT excluded.
The silver coins to mark 130 years since the birth of Alexandru Rosetti are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The coins are put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Craiova, Iasi and Timisoara.
