The Ministry for Romanians Abroad (MpRP) voiced its regret regarding the violent incidents in Ragusa involving members of the Romanian community who reside in the territory and announced that, together with the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE), it initiated the necessary demarches to support them.
"Defending the rights, liberties and dignity of Romanians abroad is a priority on my agenda and that of the Ministry for Romanians Abroad. In this respect, the institution that I represent, together with the Foreign Affairs Ministry, through the Romanian Consular Office of Catania, has initiated the necessary demarches to support our fellow nationals. Furthermore, together with the MAE team, we are working intensely on the project to open a center specially dedicated to difficult situations in which Romanian citizens residing in Sicily region might be," Minister for Romanians Abroad Natalia-Elena Intotero underlined, according to a release of the MpRP issued on Tuesday.
The Ministry for Romanians Abroad is in full process of identifying the judicial solutions, in collaboration with the MAE, through which it can open an inter-disciplinary assistance center for persons vulnerable to trafficking and labour exploitation in southern Italy, the release informs.
"As of the beginning of next week, through a decision of the MpRP, all institutions with jurisdiction in the area will be convened within the Inter-ministerial Committee, in order to boost the procedures for making the center operational. Its main objective will be serving Romanian citizens' rights through services of judicial assistance, information and counseling for the persons who are in vulnerable situations and not only," the MpRP release informs.
