The Ministry of Finance raised an additional 90 million lei from banks on Friday, following Thursday's auction in which it borrowed 600 million lei at an annual interest rate of 6.35% through a benchmark government bond issue with a residual maturity of 89 months.

The nominal value of the additional issue was 90 million lei, while banks submitted offers totalling 131.5 million lei.

In February 2026, the Ministry of Finance (MF) plans to borrow 7.7 billion lei from commercial banks, with an additional 15% of the nominal value awarded in benchmark auctions allowed through supplementary non-competitive bidding sessions organised exclusively for benchmark instruments.

The total amount of 7.7 billion lei set out in the prospectuses for treasury bills with discount and benchmark government bonds is 2.3 billion lei lower than the 10 billion lei scheduled in January 2026. The funds will be used to refinance and prepay public debt and to finance the state budget deficit.
