Chairman of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Ludovic Orban said on Monday evening that President Trump's attorney Rudolph Giuliani holds no official position in the US public institutions and therefore the letter he sent the Romanian authorities expresses just "a personal point of view".
"I think the subject received excessive hype. Mr. Giuliani currently holds no official position in the state of America, he does in no way represent the official position of any institution - the Senate, the House of Representatives, the Department of State or the Presidency of the United States of America. (...) This is a personal point of view that does in no way engage any institution. (...) I think the subject got too much attention. It's a position expressed by someone who has indeed an important career behind, but who does not represent any institution of the state of America," Orban said.
He added that "in no way" does this allow the conclusion that the US President would be behind the position expressed by Giuliani.
"There is speculation that he is Trump's attorney - but this is a contractual relationship between two individuals, and in no case does this allow the conclusion that the President is behind the position expressed by Giuliani. (...) I say this again, this is a point of view expressed by a particular person from the United States of America, who has a personal contractual relationship with US President Donald Trump," Ludovic Orban told broadcaster Romania TV.
