Labour Minister Florin Manole stated on Wednesday that allowances for children with disabilities need to be increased, as they currently stand at an extremely low level of just 80 lei per month, according to Agerpres.
"We understand the need for budget savings and are doing everything we can on this matter, but at the same time we understand the need for social solidarity and to compensate certain categories of citizens, such as children with disabilities, in relation to the freezing of allowances. Children with disabilities receive social benefits at an extraordinarily low level, a minimum of 80 lei per person per month. I believe 80 lei does not seem a large amount for anyone. For example, we think an increase is needed there. But it is just one example, the most relevant one," Manole said at the Palace of Parliament.
Social Democratic Party (PSD) President Sorin Grindeanu convened the Social Democratic ministers for a meeting to discuss the 2026 budget and the proposals they are expected to submit. The meeting is taking place in Sorin Grindeanu's office at Parliament.
