Firemen have intervened, on Christmas Eve and the first day of Christmas, in 2,255 emergency situations, of which 141 firefighting missions.
According to a release of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), in the 24-25 December period, over 5,100 firemen were on duty daily to ensure the protection and safety of citizens.
In the two days, at the national level 2,255 emergency situations occurred, rescuers being requested for 141 firefighting missions, 1,928 cases for the SMURD mobile rescue and extrication service (1,909 to grant first aid and 19 extrication missions), 66 rescue missions, as well as another 120 interventions in support of communities.
Furthermore, 1,886 persons received medical aid from SMURD crews, and another 44 were rescued from mediums hostile to life.
The number of interventions in which the IGSU crews were called upon has dropped by approximately 5% this Christmas, as compared to that of 2016, this year seeing 137 less events.
