The AIHCB has achieved Level 3 Optimisation of Airport Carbon Accreditation in recognition of the exemplary airport activity in managing and reducing CO2 emissions and getting other stakeholders engaged in this approach as the global airport industry response to the climate change challenges, reads the accreditation certificate issued by ACI Europe.
According to the CNAB, the certification followed detailed analysis of CO2 emissions as well as measures taken by airport authorities and administrations and airport infrastructure users (airlines, handling, refuelling, catering agents etc.).
Programme credibility is ensured by independent verifiers and the most important European and world institutions - the European Commission, the International Civil Aviation Organisation, the UN, Eurocontrol, FAA, ECAC - are represented in the advisory committee.
Recently, CNAB has renewed certification Level 1 Mapping of Airport Carbon Accreditation for Bucharest - Aurel Vlaicu Baneasa International Airport.
Official ACI data show that 237 airports in the world have certified since the beginning of October to date, of which 133 in Europe (65 percent of total European passenger traffic). Of this total, only 87 reached Level 3 Optimisation or 3+ Neutral.
The ACI Airport Carbon Accreditation Programme - the global carbon emission management standard for airports - was launched in Europe in 2009, having covered all regions of the world since 2009, supporting the airport community to reduce carbon footprint.
