Minister of Health Alexandru Rafila is paying a visit on Tuesday to the Infectious Diseases Hospital in southeastern Constanta, which was affected by a fire last year, where he will discuss with the local authorities, but also with the management team with a view to reopening the unit to provide safe medical care to people infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, Agerpres reports.
Last Friday, during a visit to the Grigore Alexandrescu Emergency Hospital for Children in the Capital, Minister Rafila announced that steps are being taken to reopen the medical units that have been affected by the fires recently.
"The hospital in Constanta was also affected by an unfortunate fire and we must give back to the health system a unit there, as well, that is accompanied by very good professionals, so that we are really prepared. It seemed very strange to me that after a year at the Matei Bals Institute, after several months in Constanta, things got stuck and we have had to make efforts now, in the last weeks, so that the activities of these institutions resume. It is important to have all the necessary resources," says Rafila.
On October 1, seven studies at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Constanta died in the fire of the intensive anesthetic care ward. All those hospitalized were evacuated and hospitalized in medical units in the county. Of these, five died later on.
