The Government and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan are absolutely dedicated to the idea of anti-corruption and integrity and no person who does not meet the conditions will remain in office, the spokesperson for the Government Ioana Dogioiu said on Tuesday evening.
She made this clarification at a press conference at the Victoria Palace, when asked whether Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan is considering replacing the president of the National Authority for Consumer Protection, Cristian Popescu Piedone, who was questioned by the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) on Tuesday.
"All I can tell you is that this government and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan are absolutely dedicated to the idea of anti-corruption and integrity and that any person who cannot fulfill their function and does not meet the conditions for fulfilling it will remain in office. Regarding the case you mentioned, it remains to be seen what the prosecutors' actions will be in the coming period. The case will be analyzed and the Prime Minister will make a decision," said Ioana Dogioiu.
Cristian Popescu Piedone was heard on Tuesday at the National Anti-Corruption Directorate in a file in which he is suspected of having warned a hotel in Sinaia that they were going to carry out an inspection there.
Prosecutors descended on a tourist complex in Mamaia on Tuesday morning, where Piedone was staying. Later, he was brought by prosecutors to his home in Bragadiru for searches. In parallel, investigators descended on the hotel in Sinaia, but also on the headquarters of the National Authority for Consumer Protection.
