The Government approved in Thursday's sitting amendments and completions to the Law of adoptions, one of the new provisions extending the length of validity of the person or family certificate fit to adopt from 2 to 5 years, Gov't spokesman Nelu Barbu stated.
"The document introduces provisions intended to ensure celerity in acquiring and maintaining the status of adoptable child, to streamline the assessment procedure of the adopters and the post-adoption monitoring stage and to eliminate the red tape and simplify some of the procedures," Nelu Barbu told a press conference on Thursday at Victoria Palace.
He explained that the new form of the law eliminates from the procedure the identification of the relatives of up to the 4th degree in the cases in which the tailor-made plan for the child protection is aimed at adoption, the measure targeting the streamlining of the demarches at this stage of the adoption process.
"Moreover, in order to support persons or families who wish to adopt, the document raises the length of validity of the person or family certificate fit to adopt from 2 to 5 years. The certificate of the person fit to adopt is thus valid for 5 years, according to this amendment," Barbu said.
He added that new financial incentives are introduced in the new law, intended to uphold the decision of a family to adopt.
The Gov't spokesperson specified the new law establishes that the adopter or the adopting family "receives the amount of 1,500 lei per year for every adopted child, amount that will ensure recovery or medical, psychological or any other type of rehabilitation."
"To cover the traveling and accommodation expenses of the adopting person or family throughout the participation in the practical matching procedure with a child from another county, the amount of 200 lei is granted per day per person for up to ten days," Barbu further said.
