German ambassador highlights Romania's good economic growth, wants it to carry on

The Romanian economy shows very good growth, German ambassador Cord Meier-Klodt remarked on Friday in a press statement at the headquarters of the Dambovita County Council. 

The German ambassador was on a visit to Dambovita County on Friday, where he met with county authorities, MPs, mayors, representatives of the 'Valahia' University of Targoviste and of the Dambovita Chamber of Commerce. 

This is a visit devoted to an entire range of topics, including the further development of our relationships on educational ground - and I am referring here to university education, the promotion of German language and to vocational education. The main topic is the further development of economic relations. (...) On the one hand, Romania shows very good economic growth and we want things to continue in the same direction; on the other hand, the German economy is interested in further developing this relationship and in doing it at the scale of the whole country, said German ambassador Cord Meier-Klodt. 

He also referred to the German investment in Automecanica Moreni, which signed in June with the German military technology provider Rheinmetall the constitutive act of the Romanian Military Vehicle Systems joint venture, the new company that is to manufacture an 8x8 armored personnel carrier. 

The German economy is well represented here, but the potential is great. Companies like HeidelbergCement and Sun Garden are already offering a very high number of jobs. As Mr. [County Council] president Oprea said, there is a joint project of strategic importance, and I am referring here to the joint venture between Rheinmetall and Automecanica Moreni, a joint strategic partnership. With this we are not only after exchanging technology but we also envisage creating high-skill long-term jobs, said German ambassador Cord Meier-Klodt. 

Also attending the meeting with the German ambassador was Senator and former Minister of Defense Adrian Tutuianu. 

Today's discussions focused on the following: first of all, on presenting the potential of this county, secondly on opportunities for concrete collaboration. We insisted on the presence of Rheinmetall at Automenica Moreni. We are interested in the production of armored carriers and military trucks. Thirdly, we have surely brought to the attention of His Excellency the possibilities of collaboration in the line of education, the cooperation potential between the county territorial administrative units and German territorial administrative units, said Adrian Tutuianu. 

On the agenda of ambassador Cord Meier-Klodt's trip to Dambovita County are visits to the Targoviste Royal Court Museum Complex and to the companies Automecanica Moreni, Sun Garden Pucioasa and HeidelbergCement Fieni. AGERPRES .
