The Forum of Parliamentary Legal Committees with the theme "The Rule of Law as a Foundation of European Integration and the Protection of Fundamental Rights" will take place in the commune of Moisei, in Maramures County, between January 22-25.

The forum, now in its third edition, is organized under the aegis of the Legal Committee of the Romanian Senate.

According to a press release from the Senate, this year the event brings together representatives of the legal committees from Romania, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Albania, in a framework of inter-institutional dialogue dedicated to "consolidating the rule of law, regional legal cooperation and supporting the European path of the participating states".

The Romanian delegation is represented by Senators Laurentiu Plaesu, Elena-Simona Spataru, Catalin-Daniel Fenechiu, Cristian-Augustin Niculescu-Tagarlas, Raducu-Adrian Paduraru, Vasile-Ciprian Rus, Nadia-Cosmina Cerva, Titus Corlatean, Vasilica Poteca, Maria-Gabriela Horga, Ovidiu Jitaru and Deputies Alina-Stefania Gorghiu and Adriana-Diana Tusa.

The forum's work will be structured in thematic panels dedicated to the independence of the judiciary, the protection of fundamental rights, regional judicial cooperation and the harmonization of national legislation with the European acquis.

The event will conclude with the adoption and signing of a joint Resolution, which will reflect the commitments undertaken by the participating states in support of the rule of law and European values.

"The Moisei Forum confirms the active role of the Romanian Senate in promoting regional parliamentary dialogue and in strengthening legal cooperation as an essential pillar of European integration and institutional stability in the region," the press release states.
