Assessing the state of the bilateral relations was the main topic of discussions that took place on Monday between the Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodor Melescanu and Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of State for Economic and Commercial Business of the United Arab Emirates, according to a press release sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE).
According to the quoted source, the talks focused on assessing the state of bilateral relations and the progress registered with regard to the consolidation of economic and sectoral cooperation between Romania and the United Arab Emirates, following the first session of the first Joint Cooperation Committee between the Romanian Government and the Government of the United Arab Emirates, that took place during the period of 16 and 17 April 2018.
Minister Teodor Melescanu reiterated the importance that Romania grants to developing the bilateral cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, pointing out, at the same time, the UAE's position as an extremely important trade partner in the Gulf region. He also pointed out the necessity of continuing efforts to identify new opportunities to enhance the economic and sectorial relations in common interest fields, with an emphasis on the great potential for attracting new Emirati investments in Romania.
In his turn, Minister Al Jaber voiced his appreciation of the stage of bilateral relations, including that of political-diplomatic dialogue and highlighted the importance that the UAE gives to the development of the bilateral relations, with an emphasis on transportation, agriculture, energy and investments.

In context, Minister Teodor Melescanu underlined that Romania, a state that will take over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, will continue to grant special importance to the Southern Neighborhood of the European Union, all the while promoting political solutions to the differences in the Middle East and North Africa.
