Romania is committed to continue enhancing cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, Foreign Affairs Minister Teodor Melescanu said on Thursday upon welcoming UAE ambassador in Bucharest, Sheikh Ahmed Ali Hamad Al Mualla, a release by the relevant ministry sent to AGERPRES informs.
The Romanian chief diplomat appreciated the contribution of the Emirates' ambassador to the development of the bilateral relations between the two countries, reiterating Romania's will to further strengthen and diversify bilateral cooperation in mutual interest fields. He also stressed the importance of the economic dimension of the bilateral cooperation and emphasized the position of the Emirates as a significant trade partner of Romania in the Gulf area, as commercial exchanges have been following an upward trend in the last years.
Ambassador Ahmed Ali Hamad Al Mualla, on an farewell visit at the end of his mission to Romania, thanked for the support received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during his mandate in Romania and expressed the Abu Dhabi authorities' interest to extend the scope of bilateral cooperation.
In the end of their meeting, the two dignitaries exchanged opinions on the recent political and security evolutions, with an impact upon Middle East stability, with Melescanu underlining the role of the Emirates in preserving the region's stability.
