The Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, declared that the Government prioritizes the construction sector, a fact demonstrated by the timely payment of all programs from the Ministry of Development in December.
He made this clarification, answering the question of whether the implementation of projects in the PNRR could be jeopardized due to the financing difficulties faced by builders and whether the creation of new financial products by the Investment and Development Bank (IDB) is being considered, in the context in which this institution could develop such products only if the Ministry of Finance considers the construction sector a strategic one.
"I think the best way we have demonstrated that we are taking this sector into account as a priority is the fact that we honored our construction obligations in December, paying up to date all the programs from the Ministry of Development. We are talking here about PNDL, PNRR, Anghel Saligny and CNI. This was done according to discussions with representatives of the Ministry of Development, for the first time. These payments were made on December 16 and it was a great effort to make them. I am, of course, open to creating new instruments that would facilitate the acceleration of the absorption of European funds, including in the BID area. We do this including through projects that we have in the recovery plan, but we also do it through the ceiling through which we grant loans, for which we set aside dedicated amounts in December for the UATs that need to compensate for certain money on European funds," declared Alexandru Nazare, Thursday, in a press conference at Victoria Palace.
As a conclusion, the minister emphasized: "The IDB is becoming more and more involved, but there are other instruments with which we are trying to solve this problem."
