The national unemployment rate stood at 2.67% at the end of February, lower than in the previous month by 0.01 percentage points and lower by 0.69 percentage points than in February 2021, according to a National Agency for Employment (ANOFM) release sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.
The total number of unemployed at the end of February 2022 was 232,875 people, 1,197 people less than at the end of the previous month.
Out of the total registered unemployed, 51,651 were unemployed receiving benefits and 181,224 who didn't receive unemployment benefits. The number of unemployed receiving benefits decreased by 5,771 persons and the number of unemployed without benefits increased by 4,574 persons compared to the previous month.
By area of residence, the number of unemployed at the end of February is as follows: 67,712 unemployed in urban areas and 165,163 unemployed in rural areas.
Most unemployed people were between 40 and 49 years old (60,100), followed by those between 50 and 55 years old (48,274), at the opposite end were people between 25 and 29 years old (14,529).
Regarding the structure of unemployment according to the level of education, the unemployed without education and those with primary education have a significant share in the total number of unemployed registered in the ANOFM records (29.73%).
Unemployed people with a secondary education level represent 31.64% of the total registered unemployed, and those with university studies 4.81%.
