Minister of the Environment, Waters and Forestry Mircea Fechet will participate today in the final conference of the "Integrated Control of Nutrient Pollution" project, the opening ceremony of the Scientific Forum of the VI Regional Association (Europe) and at the official opening of the SAB 2023 Bucharest Auto & Accessories Show.
The main aim of the "Integrated Control of Nutrient Pollution" project was to prepare Romania for the implementation of the EU Nitrates Directive, according to the ministry.
Under the project, funds were mainly used to build community manure platforms for small farmers, carrying out a wide awareness campaign related to nitrate pollution from agricultural sources and training farmers for an efficient use of fertilisers, as well as institutional strengthening of the Romanian Waters National Agency (ANAR) in order to improve the monitoring of underground and surface water quality.
At the same time, Fechet will participate in the opening ceremony of the Scientific Forum of the VI Regional Association (Europe) within the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), with the theme "Together to the benefit of knowledge." The event is organised by the National Weather Administration (ANM).
Also today, Fechet will be attending the official opening of the SAB 2023 Bucharest Auto & Accessories Show at Romexpo Exhibitions Hall in Bucharest.
