The Clean Energy file and Romania's role in promoting energy security at European level were the main topics discussed on Monday by Speaker of the Deputies Chamber Liviu Dragnea with Vice-President of the European Commission and European Commissioner for the Energy Union Maros Sefcovic.
On this occasion, Liviu Dragnea underscored that the energy sector is a topic of interest for our country and that Romania will continue, while holding the Presidency of the Council of the EU, to advance the common European Agenda in the energy field, with an emphasis on the development of the infrastructure in our region.
"We agree with our objectives in the energy field for 2030, but we also have to be realistic - the energy transition must take place gradually, with financial support being needed for several sources for the production of energy, and not just green energy, Also in terms of achievable objectives, considering that we have the best law package to establish the framework for the post-2020 period, it would be useful to focus on regional cooperation and increasing the inter-connecting potential, in order to bring Europe to the next level," stated Liviu Dragnea, according to a press release of the Deputies' Chamber sent to Agerpres.
The EC Vice-President appreciated the recent developments at national level related to the liberalization of the natural gas market, while insisting on how important it is to complete this process before Romania takes over the presidency of the Council of the EU, reads the same release.
