Defence Minister Mihai Fifor and Canada's Ambassador in Bucharest Kevin Hamilton met on Wednesday, on which occasion the Romanian minister expressed our country's interest in setting up a National Centre for operational psychology and a future Romanian-Canadian collaboration on this topic.
According to a press release of the National Defence Ministry (MApN) sent on Thursday to AGERPRES, the strengthening of the cooperation between the two armies in military medicine and psychological assistance featured as an important topic on the two officials' agenda, and also the improvement of the research, risk management, diagnosis and treatment system specific to post-traumatic disorders.
"In the context, the National Defence Minister expressed Romania's interest in setting up a National Centre of operational psychology and a future Romanian-Canadian collaboration on this topic. In the upcoming period, a delegation made up of MApN representatives will travel to Canada for an expertise exchange on this topic," the quoted source specifies.
At the same time, MApN informs, the agenda of the talks concentrated on the evolution of cooperation in defence and the favourable perspectives in pursuing the development of military relations, both bilaterally and within the initiatives carried out at the NATO level.
"Minister Mihai Fifor expressed gratitude for Canada's substantial contribution to the allied initiatives implemented on our country's territory and in the Black Sea region, as well as for the participation of the Canadian Armed Forces in the multinational exercises in view of strengthening the allied interoperability," the release further reads.
