Romania's CSM Satu Mare won the Central European Women's Basketball League (CEWL) on Sunday, after defeating Germany's BC Pharmaserv Marburg 69-60 (20-17, 21-11) , 12-17, 16-15), at the Dumitru Popescu-Colibasi Sports Hall in Brasov, which hosted the Final Four tournament of the competition.
Maria Solopova was the best CSM player, having scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Also scoring for the Romanian team were Taneisha Harrison - 13 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist; Porchia Green - 10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists; Andra Mandache 10 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist; Kristina Balic 10 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist; Brittany Denson 7 points, 6 rebounds, and Alexandra Uiuiu 4 poimts, 1 rebound, 2 assists.
The best of the away team was Katlyn Yohn, 21 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist. Diana Voinova scored 8 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists; Marie Bertholdt 8 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists; Stephanie Wagner 7 points, 5 rebounds; Paige Bradley 7 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists; Tonisha Baker 7 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists; Alexandra Wilke 2 points. Also playing was Kim Winterhoff.
In the regular season, CSM Satu Mare won both matches against Marburg, 84-71 home and 71-54 away.
In the third place match, Olimpia Brasov beat CSU Alba Iulia 72-55.
