President Nicusor Dan and his Polish counterpart, Karol Nawrocki, will co-chair the Bucharest Nine (B9) and Nordic Summit on May 13 at the Cotroceni Palace, an event themed "Delivering More for Transatlantic Security", the Presidential Administration announced, inform Agerpres.
The Bucharest 9 format, launched in 2015 by Romania and Poland, brings together NATO's eastern-flank members: Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has been invited to attend, along with representatives of the Nordic countries: Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden and Norway.
US President Donald Trump was also invited, but in a diplomatic letter thanking Romania for its support, he informed that he would not participate. According to sources, a similar invitation was extended to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
