"It's obvious that the justice laws, in the form in which they are valid today, must be rethought and they must be modernised, improved. It is clear that the objective here - at least my objective - is getting to have the laws corrected and to guarantee the independence of justice. For that, there is certainly a need for more things. Firstly, it is necessary to resume the legislative cycle on the justice laws, but not anyway. There is a need for responsible legislation, transparent legislation, a legislation that leads to the real modernisation of the legislation in this area. This requires discussions, transparency is needed, discussions with the CSM [Superior Council of Magistracy] are needed, which guarantees the independence of justice, and not like before, when these CSM opinions have been constantly ignored," President Iohannis said at the Cotroceni Palace, before starting consultations with parties on the justice legislation.

The Justice Laws should be rethought, modernised and improved, President Klaus Iohannis said on Wednesday, adding that it's necessary to resume the legislative cycle in this area.
