Border police officers from Border Crossing Point (PTF) of Constanta Port identified, at the border check, a Syrian ship commander that presented a forged Iraqi passport, in order to receive a visa, according to a press release sent on Monday by the Coast Guard.
According to the quoted source, at the end of last week, during a specific check of a ship that was flying a Vanuatu flag, and which had arrived from Turkey, and the crew members, the border police officers discovered on the commander a forged Iraqi passport, with which he was requesting a transit visa, stating that the work contract had ended.
"Upon verifications, border police noticed that the document is completely fake, being signaled as stolen by the authorities, and the man in question, Syrian citizen, O.M, 44 years old, declared that he procured the Iraqi passport in Turkey, with the help of an acquaintance, for 15,000 euro", according to the Coast Guard's press release.
Romanian authorities denied the Syrian citizen entry into the country, the passport being picked up for expertise, and the border police are doing research upon the crimes of forgery and use of forgery for the fraudulent attempt to cross the state's border.
