The chairman of Social Democratic Party (PSD), Marcel Ciolacu, declared that he has a very good institutional relationship with the Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca, specifying that he is a party leader who "does not get involved" in the governing act, agerpres reports.
"We have [with the prime minister] a very good institutional relationship, we focus on the essential things, I do not get involved in the governing act. (...) I am not the PSD chairman who goes to the Government to make appointments or to confuse things. I am communicating with the PSD ministers, I talked to Mr. Stanescu, we have been at the headquarters for two days, we talked to each minister, because we have to prepare for the "coalition meeting, to know what we are going with and to address the issues in the coalition," Ciolacu told Antena 3 on Sunday.
Regarding the criticisms made by the National Liberal Party (PNL) chairman, the leader of the social democrats pointed out that Florin Citu should understand that he did not create a majority with USR.
"I don't think that Romanians expect us to criticize ourselves, to promote ourselves on TV. I totally avoided it. I think that the expectations of the Romanians from us are completely different at this moment and Florin Citu, the speaker of the Senate, should also understand that he did not create a majority together with Save Romania Union (USR). He created it together with PSD at this moment and we have completely different approaches," Marcel Ciolacu mentioned.
Asked when he last spoke with President Klaus Iohannis, Ciolacu said that the meeting took place on December 1, Romania's National Day.
''The last discussion with Klaus Iohannis was on December 1. (...) I talked about the problems in the Chamber, in the Senate, I was with Mr. Citu,'' said the PSD leader.
