The Chamber of Deputies - the decision-making body in this matter - approved on Tuesday a child benefit cap of 8,500 lei, taken after the highest rate in effect in EU member states, and maintaining the current method of determining the benefit and the allowance low at 85 percent of the national minimum gross wage.
The bill cleared the Chamber by a vote of 178 to 94 and 8 abstentions.
Until the enforcement of the ordinance, the awarded child benefit is 85 percent of the parent's average net incomes over the last 12 months of the two years prior to the child's birth and shall not be less than 85 percent of the national minimum gross wage. AGERPRES .
