As many as 33,015 building permits for residential buildings were issued in the first nine months of 2018, up 4.4pct from the same period last year, according to data with the National Institute of Statistics (INS) released on Tuesday.
Increases were reported in the development regions South-Muntenia (+432 permits), South-West Oltenia (+376), West (+347), South-East (+221), Centre (+125) and North-West (+122). Decreases were recorded in the development regions North-East (-226 authorizations) and Bucharest-Ilfov (-17).
In September 2018, a number of 4,006 permits were issued for the construction of residential buildings, of which 63pct were in the countryside.
Regional distribution shows a monthly decrease by 53 in the number of building permits issued for residential buildings, as reflected in the following development regions: West (-150 permits), North-East (-59) and South-West Oltenia (-40). Increases were registered in the following development regions: Bucharest-Ilfov (+121 permits), Centre (+37), South-Muntenia (+28), South-East (+8) and North-West (+2).
Compared with the same month of 2017, September 2018 saw a decrease in the building permits issued for residential buildings (-24 permits), a decrease reflected in the development regions North-East (-91 permits), North-West (- 57), West (-47) and South-West Oltenia (-21). Increases were recorded in the following development regions: South-East (+96 permits), Bucharest-Ilfov (+55), South-Muntenia (+30) and Centre (+11).
