The formal opinion obtained within the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Committee on Agriculture (COAG) is proof that the policies we are implementing are on the right track, aligned with the standards of the world's most developed economies, claims the Minister of Agriculture, Florin Barbu, after the publication of the OECD evaluation report.

"The publication of this report represents a validation of our constant efforts to transform Romanian agriculture into a modern, performing and resilient sector. The formal opinion obtained within COAG is proof that the policies we are implementing are on the right track, aligned with the standards of the world's most developed economies. We will continue, as before, to support Romanian farmers through smart investments and to consolidate Romania's role as a pillar of food stability in the region, transforming OECD recommendations into tangible economic realities," declared Florin Barbu, quoted in a statement sent to AGERPRES.

According to the MADR, the publication of this report follows the adoption of the Formal Opinion within the COAG in 2025, which confirmed the successful completion by Romania of the evaluation process in this Committee. The report demonstrates the close cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the institutions involved and the OECD Secretariat in its preparation, as well as Romania's commitment to continue the process of structural modernization in the field of agricultural policies.

"The report prepared by OECD experts highlights the positive transformations in the Romanian agricultural sector, with an emphasis on the following key points: Strategic importance - Agriculture is a fundamental pillar for the national economy and for guaranteeing food security; Modernization and efficiency - Through the instruments of the Common Agricultural Policy, significant progress has been made in capitalizing on European funds, thus ensuring increased efficiency in the entire sector; Future directions: The report outlines clear recommendations for increasing competitiveness and sustainability, in line with global trends in environmental protection and productive efficiency," the press release reads.

MADR will continue tight technical dialogue with OECD experts in order to integrate the conclusions of this report within the national strategies, both medium and long-term. The main objectives is that for a capable agricultural sector that can answer the climate and market challenges, at the same time ensuring prosperity of rural communities.
