The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) has announced that 3,613 applications for registration in the Electoral Roll submitted by the Romanian residents abroad have been validated as of Monday, of which 2,913 are for voting by mail, and 700 for voting in polling stations.
Most applications for voting by mail have been submitted in Spain - 1,290, Italy - 791, France - 118 and Germany - 101. The fewest have been submitted in Hungary, Vietnam, Russia, New Zealand, India, South Korea, Cyprus and South Africa - one each.
For voting in polling stations, most applications were filed in Spain - 305, Moldova - 156, Italy - 71, and Portugal - 24.
The AEP is calling on the Romanian citizens abroad to refer to diplomatic missions and consular offices in order to submit the documents required for entry in the Electoral Roll, with the option to vote by correspondence or in a polling station near their home. The authority also recommends Romanian voters to inquire about the organization and unfolding of parliamentary elections abroad at the Foreign Ministry, which organizes parliamentary elections abroad under Law no. 208/2015 on the election of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies.
