Twenty migrants from Pakistan and Afghanistan were caught trying to leave the country hidden in three trucks transporting goods to European countries, most of them asylum seekers in Romania, Agerpres reports.
18 migrants were found in the Varsand Border Checkpoint, in two car and a truck driven by a Bulgarian and a Romanian, carrying aluminum pallets and reels for companies from the Netherlands and Germany.
"Following the thorough control of the means of transport, 18 foreign nationals were found hidden in the cargo compartments. The persons were taken and transported to the headquarters of the sector for investigations where, following the verifications, the border police established that they were from Pakistan and Afghanistan, asylum seekers in Romania," the Arad Border Police informed on Friday.
In another truck, checked at the exit of the country through the Nadlac II Border Checkpoint, two migrants were discovered. The driver, a Bulgarian national, was transporting furniture to Denmark, and the two illegal travelers were from Afghanistan.
In all cases, border guards are conducting investigations.
