Romanian travel agencies are constantly monitoring the situation generated by the recent events in Iran, are in dialogue with international partners and are looking for solutions for each client, the National Association of Travel Agencies (ANAT) informs in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.
"The recent events in Iran and their impact on air traffic in the region have naturally generated concern among tourists and a wave of rapid reactions, including cancellations that often go beyond the areas actually affected. At such times, it is important to maintain balance. Not every single disruption means that medium- or long-term travel plans must be canceled. Airspace restrictions and route changes are safety measures. They may mean logistical adjustments, but they do not automatically turn destinations into inaccessible areas. In most cases, travel continues, even if under slightly different conditions. They constantly monitor the situation, seek solutions for each client the relationship with tourists, but at the same time they are obliged to respect contractual conditions towards airlines, hotels and other suppliers. Therefore, it is essential that tourists remain open to dialogue and to the solutions proposed by agencies.
In many cases, there are viable alternatives - rescheduling, rerouting or adjustments - that allow the trip to proceed safely, without unnecessary losses. It must be said very clearly: of all the actors involved, agencies are currently among the most affected. However, they continue to work daily for their clients, even in situations where this effort sometimes implies assuming additional costs. In tourism, customer trust and satisfaction are essential for survival. Tourism is an extremely sensitive sector to any type of fluctuation. That is precisely why it needs responsibility from everyone: authorities, operators and tourists. However, we are also living in an extraordinary period, in which travel has become more accessible than ever. It is a progress that we must protect. Excessive reactions and chain cancellations risk affecting not only operators, but the entire ecosystem that makes this accessibility possible", ANAT notes.
Representatives of travel agencies recommend that tourists obtain information from official sources, stay in touch with agencies and make decisions based on facts, not fears, and where there are clear warnings, these must be respected. "Otherwise, travel can continue - safely, with the necessary adjustments. In this context, it is important to avoid hasty decisions, especially in the case of vacations planned in a few months, enough time for the situation to become clearer (...) Tourism is no stranger to difficult periods - it has gone through them all and moved on each time. And this time, with a little balance and confidence, things will settle down", the professional organization emphasizes.
