Secretary of State for bilateral and strategic affairs in the Euro-Atlantic area with the Foreign Affairs Ministry George Ciamba headed the Romanian delegation to the 37th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs (CMFA) of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) that took place on Friday in Kiev and where certain decisions, resolutions and ministerial recommendations for the future of BSEC's activities were adopted.
The meeting of the Minister's Council occasioned the assessment of the projects and initiatives launched under the mandate of Ukraine's President-in-office (2nd semestre, 2017). The meeting's agenda featured the debate of the evolutions subsumed to inter-governmental economic cooperation in the Black Sea region and allowed for the adoption of decisions, resolutions and ministerial recommendations for the future of the organisation's activities. During the meeting, the Council of Ministers adopted the decision to appoint Romania as coordinating-state in institutional reform and good governance, on which occasion, the Romanian dignitary emphasised our country's availability in sharing expertise and good practices in view of boosting efficiency and administrative transparency," reads a press release of MAE sent to AGERPRES on Friday.
According to the quoted source, Ciamba reconfirmed Romania's strong commitment to stimulate inter-governmental economic cooperation within BSEC, faithful to an ambitious agenda capable of providing substance to the development of good neighbouring relations with the states in the Black Sea's extended region and to contribute, in the long run, to ensuring regional security and stability by cultivating a genuine dialogue.
"In this context, he expressed support for resolving peacefully, in a negotiated manner, the prolonged conflicts in the region, with the international negotiation formats as well as the backing for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, appreciating that the development of the partnership with the EU could contribute to boosting regional projects and implicitly, to the development of BSEC's capacity to promote strategic projects with tangible results for the sustainable economic development of the entire Black Sea region. On this occasion, Secretary of State George Ciamba also reconfirmed Romania's availability to continue to support the EU," reads the release.
