Prime Minister Viorica Dancila stated that President Klaus Iohannis lacks, firstly, impartiality and that he should not be a head of state that instigates hatred and discord.
"Impartiality, firstly [e.n. - is what President Iohannis lacks]. There is need for a mediator president, not a president who instigates hatred, discord and I believe this is the first thing Romanians desired when they voted - a President to see the national interest above electoral interest, a president who knows when to yield because it's necessary, because that's what every man does. It's possible that some of the things you consider important are not in the best interest of the country," Viorica Dancila said in an interview broadcast on Sunday by private broadcaster Antena 3, when asked what Iohannis lacks to be a good president for Romania.
She added that Romanians desired a President to support Romania and Romania's image against foreign attacks and which would be more active in the external domain.
"Even if something in Romania is not normal, he should try to regulate them in Romania, not to give interviews and make certain accusations when he is away at Brussels. I think he should see the model of other presidents from other countries who never said 'in my country this thing is happening'. I think these matters should be regulated in the country, he is the President of Romania and we do not need for the matters he sees abnormal or unjust for him to request aid from Brussels or somebody else," the Prime Minister said.
