An event marking 109 years since the birth of the great pianist Dinu Lipatti will take place on Thursday at ARCUB - the Cultural Centre of Bucharest, featuring a recital by young artist Andreas Iliuta and a photo-documentary exhibition.
According to a press release from ARCUB sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday, and organised in partnership with the George Enescu National Museum, the event offers a meeting point between the memory of one of Romania's most important pianists and the energy of a new generation of performers carrying forward this tradition.
The evening's highlight is pianist Andreas Iliuta, one of the remarkable Romanian musicians of the new generation. His recitals across Romania and other European cultural centres have established him as a pianist admired for his interpretative sensitivity and artistic maturity.
The programme includes works from the classical and romantic piano repertoire, in the interpretative spirit associated with Dinu Lipatti.
The evening will be complemented by a photo-documentary exhibition dedicated to the great pianist, presented by the George Enescu National Museum. The exhibition brings together archival photographs, documents, letters, and testimonies about the life and work of the artist, and can be visited both before and after the recital.
Born in Milan, Andreas Iliuta began studying piano at the age of three. He graduated from the 'Giuseppe Verdi' Conservatory in Milan, continued his studies at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, and throughout his career has performed with numerous orchestras and collaborated with prominent conductors. He currently combines an international concert career with teaching, serving as a piano professor at I.C.S. Manara in Milan and as a doctoral student at the National University of Music in Bucharest.
