Former Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Gabriel Oprea, currently a senator, has submitted to Senate Chairman Calin Popescu-Tariceanu a request for Senate's voting again on a request for his prosecution for culpable homicide filed by the Prosecution Service with the Supreme Court.
"I have forwarded the request today to the Senate's chairman. It has never been my intention to run from justice, and still it is not, but what has happened in the case is not all right. I want justice for Bogdan Gigina, but this file does not seem to be about justice, but about vendetta with political undertones," Oprea wrote Friday in a Facebook post.
"I am kindly requesting you to resubmit for another vote at the next plenary session of the Senate the letter from the Prosecution Service with the Supreme Court regarding a prosecution request for a criminal investigation under court file 905/P/2015," reads Oprea's request.
The Senate on Monday denied the request for Oprea's prosecution for culpable homicide in the death of police agent Bogdan Gigina, in a 73 to 45 vote and six voided ballots.
