Two Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft of the German Air Force, on Enhanced Air Policing duty, took off on Sunday evening from the 57th Air Base (Mihai Kogalniceanu Air Base) after areal drones were detected near Romania's border with Ukraine, radar contact being lost when the target moved east of Sulina.
"Sunday, 22 March, around 20:50, following the detection of areal drones near Romania's border with Ukraine, two Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, of the German Air Force, on Enhanced Air Policing duty, took off from the 57th Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base. (...) Radar contact was lost as the target moved east of Sulina," the National Defence Ministry (MApN) informed.
According to the quoted source, no debris from the areal vehicle was reported on the national territory and the air alert ended at 22:00.
