Romania wishes to pursue cooperation within the Romania-Poland-Türkiye, as well as within the Bucharest Nine (B9) formats, Foreign Affairs Minister Oana Toiu said on Tuesday while on an official visit to Poland at the invitation of her counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski, on the occasion of Romanian-Polish Solidarity Day.

'Our countries signed the first strategic security partnership on 3 March 1921, and today our cooperation is essential to ensure that the region's priorities are at the centre of European policies, for transatlantic cooperation and for security on the Eastern Flank. We marked the friendship and resilience of our peoples with a working agenda that covered many important topics for both countries,' the Romanian Foreign minister wrote on Facebook.

Minister Oana Toiu added that she discussed developments in the Middle East with her counterpart and ways to protect citizens wishing to return home.

Another item on the agenda was the strengthening of the bilateral Strategic Partnership.

'We agreed to initiate negotiations for a new bilateral Action Plan (2027-2031), which is to be signed at the next joint government meeting to be held in Warsaw later this year,' the Foreign Affairs minister said.

At the same time, the Romanian official showed that the Joint Committee provided for in the Intergovernmental Agreement on Cooperation in the Defence Industry Area has been unblocked.

'Together, we want to intensify cooperation within the Trilateral format (Romania-Poland-Türkiye) and within the Bucharest Nine (B9), co-initiated by Romania and Poland. We acknowledged our mutual contributions to shared security and thanked Poland for its military presence within the Multinational Brigade South-East in Romania. We aim to further increase the excellent level of trade exchanges, which exceeded 12 billion euros at the end of 2025,' Minister Oana Toiu also said.
