Insolvencies of trading companies and self-employed persons were up by 8.73 percent in 2017 from the year before, to 9,102 units, shows data released on the website of the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).
Bucharest tops the list with most insolvencies - 1,988, up 12.25 pct compared to January - December 2016, followed by Iasi County with 583 (+ 11.90 pct) and Bihor County, with 515 (-6.70 pct).
Most insolvencies were in wholesale and retail trade, and the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles - 2.823, with a YoY advance of 10.49 pct.
As many as 16,380 companies suspended their activity (+ 2.9 pct) and there were 31,197 dissolutions (4.26 pct more).
Deregistrations last year stood at 82,295, down 24.58 pct.
