The privatization of the Romanian Post (Posta Romana) could begin this year, Communications Minister Marius Bostan said, on Friday upon signing a collaboration protocol between the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) and the Ministry of Communications and for Information Society (MC) to support the small- and medium-sized entreprises in the IT&C sector.
"I cannot say when the IPO will be done. I could plan it after seeing a strategic plan, when we get dividends, see the financing resources for the company's development, because development is necessary both in automation in order to provide quality services, on the diversification side," the minister said.
Bostan specified that listing on the BVB would be a solution for the Romanian Post.
"When listing a company, it is very important that one has something to list, because the investors want to see a dividend plan, an operational plan; they don't want to see historic debts ,which are rescheduled anyway, they are at the Tax Authority. This is what investors want. Listing is a solution for the Romanian Post," the minister stressed.
The company is co-owned by the Romanian state, with 75 percent through the MC, and the Proprietatea Fund with 25 percent.AGERPRES
