Border police at crossing points found 26 misdeeds - eight infractions and 18 contraventions committed by both Romanian and foreign citizens in the past 24 hours and issued fines worth over 39,400 RON, Agerpres reports.
Approximately 188,500 people, Romanian and foreign nationals, and over 45,100 means of transport (of which 9,600 freight box trucks) underwent border checks at all of Romania's crossing points on January 9; there were about 61,100 travelers by 15,700 means of transport on the inbound, and 127,400 travelers by 29,400 means of transport on the outbound, reports the General Border Police Inspectorate.
The busiest borders were:
* The border with Hungary - crossed by about 100,300 people and 28,900 means of transport;
* The air border - about 47,400 people;
* The border with Moldova - approximately 18,000 people and 5,100 means of transport;
* The border with Bulgaria - about 15,000 people and 7,900 means of transport.
16 foreign citizens who did not meet the legal requirements were denied entry to the country, and nine Romanian citizens were also not allowed to leave the country for various legal reasons.
