AUR rules out a collaboration before the elections with any of the parties in the current governing coalition, with one exception - if a government with a fixed term, limited to a few months and with a mandate to organize elections were formed, the leader of the party's senators, Petrisor Peiu declared on Monday.

"We exclude a collaboration before the elections with any of the parties in the current governing coalition - PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR. So, before the elections there is no formula for understanding, coalition, except in the hypothesis in which we form a government with a fixed term, limited to a few months and with a mandate to organize elections. That's it," said Peiu, asked in a press conference whether AUR would start discussions with other parties in Parliament for a political majority, in case the Government 'falls'.

AUR has no interest in entering a government as a minority partner, he stressed.

"We cannot, as the second largest party, enter into any kind of coalition with parties that think completely and completely differently. If I want a VAT rate of 19% and these four parties want 21%, how can we govern together? This is not possible. We are waiting for the elections and the decision of the electorate," he said.

A motion of censure could be filed by AUR in April-May, after the release of economic data for the first quarter of the year.

"According to the calculation that I made - and I want to propose it to my colleagues -, we will submit a motion of censure, the basic scenario, if the Government does not do something foolish by then. We will submit a motion of censure when the press release regarding the estimate of the economic result for the first quarter of the year is published". (...) Somewhere in April, early May. Then we will know, we will see that what I said has been confirmed and we are in an economic crisis", stated the AUR senator.

Peiu reaffirmed that AUR will not support a minority government.

"How can you support a government that you are not part of? There is no such thing. In democracy there is no support for a government that you are not part of. There may be support for a government of technicians, although even there it is difficult to accept that there is no political imprint, or a government of national unity, with a limited mandate of a few months, for the organization of elections. But otherwise, if you are in opposition, you cannot support the government. If you support the government, even in Parliament, you are no longer in opposition", he also said.
